First of all... You have a LOT of potential!

The pose and the use of her for shape in the frame is excellent. Good coloring on the muzzle flashes as well, you can create a light source, now you need to make it play on your subject.

The problem is with the shading, you are off to a good start, light does affect both sides of a rounded shape. However you must take in to account the actual light source, and the shape of your surface. Remember arms, fingers, and faces, are not cylinders.
They all have ripples and wrinkles and shapes that are affected by your light source.

Study some photos of the subject matter you want to draw lit how you imagined yours to be. Or pause a movie that you notice interesting lighting that you want to match, and study how it works.

I think you are on your way, just remember "it's not what it IS, it's how it LOOKS."
